The campground will open to the public Thursday, June 23, and reservations which can be makeup to six months in advance will be accepted starting Thursday, Feb. The new campground will boast spectacular views of Lake Michigan. It offers two options for camping, including a full hook-up campground and a tent-only rustic campground.

All camping units must be self-contained because there is no restroom or shower available.

First-come, first-served campgrounds usually fill by early morning: Overnight camping or parking is only allowed in designated campgrounds or campsites. Campsite occupancy is limited to six people per site. Camping is limited to 14 days from July 1 through Labor Day first Monday in September and to 30 days the rest of the year; no limit at Fishing Bridge. Drinking water is normally available in all campgrounds. Campfires, including those in portable wood or propane fire pits, are prohibited in the Fishing Bridge RV Park.

Wood and charcoal fires are permitted in all other campgrounds unless fire danger prompts special restrictions. Any restrictions will be listed on campground information boards and on the current conditions page. Propane grills and stoves are not usually affected by fire restrictions. Fishing Bridge RV Park is the only campground offering water, sewer, and electrical hookups 50 amp service:

Woodland Park has a great location, convenient to Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore and within walking distance of downtown Grand Marais. It is a very good park for RVs, with full hookups and dump station, at a very reasonable price considering its prime location. Tahquamenon Falls has a very nice network of hiking trails, attractive waterfalls, and modern campground facilities. One of the nicer tent camping spots in the eastern Upper Peninsula but also well suited for RVs.

It has a nice location sandwiched between Lake Superior on one side and Muskallonge Lake on the other so you get the advantages both offer.

The first featured destination was Vermont. Today the focus is on the Midwest and the state of Michigan. Although the New England area boasts great fall color and scenic drives, the Midwest is gorgeous and colorful in the fall too. Color starts peaking in parts of the Upper Peninsula in mid-September and into early October. There is typically good color in parts of Michigan until the end of October. The Michigan Travel and Tourism website has fall color updates and a list of several color driving tours all around the state to help make sure you don’t miss the great color no matter what part of the state you want to visit.

They also feature some great fall driving tours, one of which features Tahquamenon Falls State Park. It has two of the best waterfalls in Michigan, 40 miles of hiking trails, and 13 inland lakes amidst its 45, acres. It’s a great place for camping, hiking, fishing, canoeing, fishing, viewing the colors of autumn and a great place to take pictures sounds like it would be pretty hard to get bored there doesn’t it?

Basic camping sites will include a small patch of land that is numbered and sectioned off. Sites can be on the lake, in the woods or near other campsites, depending on the size of the campground. Tent sites may often have a small electrical hookup, but most of the time, it will be a basic site with a picnic table and firepit. RV and travel trailer sites can have much more.
